Emma Vollard – Instore Launch

6pm sharp.

To celebrate the release of her incredible debut album DEITY @emmavolardmusic would like to perform at Northside to launch the record into the world! And we couldn’t be happier! Also stoked to see the first ever physical release on @theoperatives label as well!

“The 12-part body of work is a journey though joy, sorrow and everything in-between. “Deity is a love letter to myself”, Volard explains. “A reminder to break boundaries, express myself without fear, and allow myself to grow and love unconditionally.”

Caught in the push-pull between light and shade, joy and sorrow, chaos and order, Deity is an album that draws power from the divine messiness of the human experience. Synthesising acid jazz with modern R&B, dub with pop, and future soul with old-fashioned grooves, it’s a statement of profound artistic intent for Emma.

We have followed Emma for a while now and couldn’t be prouder of the incredible record she has made with her great friends.

Come and share the good times this Friday at 6pm sharp! All gigs here at Northside are ALL AGES and at every gig there is a prize for the best dancer.

We will be gathering on the lands of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nation and pay respects to elders past present and emerging. Sovereignty was never ceded.

WOW. What a day. We only got two days heads up that this was going to happen. So happy it did! Fly Lo signed for TWO HOURS straight. The queue stretched PAST the RAINBOW and around the corner of Gertrude Street to Smith Street! DJ’s MIKE GURRIERI and EMELYNE set the mood all night just right. The funky drummer, Paul Gorrie gave us an Acknowledgment of Country and FLY LO started his odyssey! As he finished the signing we played a few unreleased THUNDERCAT joints and got the dancing competition underway. Big thanks to Fly Lo and also to THE OPERATIVES and WARP RECORDS.
