Australia’s first ever XMAS FUNK 45. In keeping with the classic tradition of rocking the funk over X-MAS we get to release a tribute to James Brown on the 10th Anniversary of his death. The first ever release from KARATE BOOGALOO (The Rhythm Section of the Cactus Channel) is set to scorch your speakers. With a respectful cover of the song that would introduce James and the band the boys make is super funky! Recoded in front of a live crowd this is the bomb!! The b side features an orginial song about giving! Nows the time!!! The tracks pops off on a super fun bass line. Then Hudson stretched out on the drums at the end in a Clyde show of respect. A piece of soulful Australian history. Look forward to more heat from the KB’s soon!
In order to help you feel the Joy Of Giving we will sell them for $14 each or you can get 5 for $50 to help spread XMAS soulful joy. The first 150 will come with a commemorative sleeve. This is a release I am PROUD of….

It’s almost that time of year again. Christmas day will mark eight years since the passing of James Brown, ‘The Godfather of Soul‘. Come pay your respect, and shake your money maker on Christmas night. Get up, get into it and get involved at the John Curtin Hotel in Carlton. Northside DJs will be joined by Karate Boogaloo and surprise special guests for the No. 1 James Brown party in Melbourne. Entry is free. Get down.
Saturday the 2nd of November sees a super-charged night of music at The Shadow Electric with freakadelic Bollywood goodness from The Bombay Royale, hot salsa and Latin funk from San Lazaro and a selection of rarities, versions and remixes from the funk and soul closet with Karate Boogaloo – the Cactus Channel rhythm section and their guests. It’s all in aid of launching HopeStreet’s Tropical Brunswick Mixtape, mixed by DJ Jumps.
What does Tropical Brunswick sound like? Don’t wait for global warming to find out. Unreleased gold from HopeStreet Recordings’ 2014 release schedule and hits and obscurities from the back catalog rub shoulders in the mix under the deft hands of DJ Jumps. Latin and afro bump up against funk, soul and spaghetti cinematica. It’s that hot analog sound you love, but you can get it on the interweb! The first 50 through the door receive a Hopestreet showbag containing the mixtape by DJ Jumps and a free 7″ vinyl from the catalog. TIX SELLING FAST!
