More than 60 Australian hip hop artists will ditch their microphones and put on the footy boots to play in the 2013 Robert Hunter Cup, a charity football match in memoriam of Perth MC Hunter.
Hunter was one of Australia’s most loved MC’s, who sadly lost his battle with cancer in October 2011.Hunter’s second love after hip hop was AFL, a major supporter of his teams the Fremantle Dockers and local WAFL side the East Perth Royals.
What started as a kick to kick amongst his friends at his wake quickly became a fully fledged event in 2012, with sponsorship and community support across the country.
Some of Australia’s biggest names in hip hop played in 2012’s Robert Hunter Cup, including Drapht, Urthboy, Bias B, Ozi Batla, Brad Strut and comedian/ JJJpresenter Scott Dooley.  A crowd of 2000 plus fans and friends flocked into Melbourne from around the country to witness the Eastside Kings defeat the Westside Warriors in a thrilling 4 point win after a 4 goal comeback in the final quarter.
The Eastside Kings and Westside Warriors will slog it out again on Sunday, 6 October 2013 at Victoria Park in Abbotsford.
The family friendly day promises to entertain with tasty Beatbox Kitchen burgers, DJs, and face painting for the kids
All proceeds of the game will raise money to supportseriously ill children through the Make-a-Wish Foundation, with the aim to beat last years $20,000+record.
The weekend will also feature a music event, to be held at the Northcote Social Club on Saturday 5 October.
